Gravel Saint

A one-bay shop that looks baked on.

The brief

Cal Whitaker. Sisters, Oregon. One-bay motorcycle shop. Oil, tires, the weekend loop. Opens Sunday.

What it had to live on

A bay door you can read from the lot. A jacket he wears. A work-order card. Wordmark. Letters first.

Who it's for

The person who rides a beat bike to work and a nicer one on Sunday and wants both to start.

What the brief told the generator to feel

Cream enamel. Oil-dark brown. A little oxidized copper. Baked on, not printed last week.

What the generator had to refuse

The constraints

Motorcycle generators default to a Harley skull, orange, a shield, an eagle, flames, MC. Saint is a diner nickname because he opens Sunday — not a church, not a halo.

The brief asked for baked-on enamel you can read from the gravel lot. Loud pushed copper until it looked like clothing. Quiet went Sunday diner and died at the road. Middle put GRAVEL SAINT on the door, the jacket, and the work-order card in cream enamel. Middle locked because daylight at the lot is the test.

Three generations

Same bay. Three mornings. The generator returns a clothing line, a shop sign, and a diner. You tap the shop.

Loud generation

gravel-saint loud generation

Loud generation — copper punch.

The brief allowed a little oxidized copper. Hot poured it. Huge letters, golden hour, almost a jacket brand. Extreme is supposed to shout. A one-bay shop cannot wear a clothing line. Not the lock.

This generation locked

gravel-saint middle generation

Middle generation — baked-on enamel.

GRAVEL SAINT on the door, the jacket, the card — every surface named in the brief. Oil, cream, copper as a hint. The generator made it look like it was always there because the brief said baked on, not printed last week.

Quiet generation

gravel-saint quiet generation

Quiet generation — Sunday diner.

Worn letters, coffee, quiet. Saint is a diner nickname, so the generator went diner. Too soft from the road. The lot still has to read the bay door.

Why this generation locked

Enamel locked because the lot is the test.

He adds the phone number himself. The generator did not sit a slogan under the name. Nothing extra unless he writes it. Letters first — that was the mark type in the brief.

The export

Same file. Every surface.

The export

Same letters. Every surface.

Enamel wordmark. No eagle. No flames. No MC. Those were already spent and forbidden.

Generated onto the real stuff

The brief named the objects. The run put the lock there.

gravel-saint in the world

On the objects in the brief

Door. Jacket. Card.

The enamel sign in daylight is the bag test. If the generation dies at the lot, the shop is invisible.

What the run leaves them

SVG for print. Same geometry the generator put on the Look. The run does not invent a second logo after the tap.
