Identity · 24 hours · this run locked Medium
Hellmouth
Fermented heat. Kitchen, not a dare.
The brief
Priya Sen. Houston. Food chemist. Fermented hot sauce for grocers and a mail list — not a dare-YouTube bottle.
What it had to live on
A bottle that survives a shelf next to Tabasco without joining the gothic crowd. Kraft shipper. Kitchen tote. No slogan.
Who it's for
The person who tastes before they post. Home cook. Not the challenge kid.
What the brief told the generator to feel
Paper-cream, cooked-chili brick in the glass, fountain-pen ink. A kitchen, not a thumbnail.
What the generator had to refuse
The constraints
Hot-sauce generators default to a skull, a flame, or a cute pepper. The brief forbade all three. Hellmouth is already the heat — so the run could not draw a mouth, a devil, or a second slogan to prove it.
One brief, three generations. Quiet: pharmaceutical paper, the ask. Middle: HEL over MOUTH and an empty vermillion chop, because a grocer shelf needs a stack you can still read if you cover the letters. Loud: celadon drama, wet glass, the chance. The middle generation locked because the bottle and the shipper were already in the picture.
Three generations
Same brief. Three kitchens. The generator always returns loud, middle, and quiet. You tap the one that belongs on a grocer shelf.
Loud generation

Hot generation — celadon, from across the kitchen.
The brief said precise, not carnival. Hot still pushed scale: huge condensed letters, wet glass, cinematic light. That is the extreme lane doing its job. Too movie if it is the only bottle they get. The run kept it as the chance. It did not lock it.
This generation locked

Middle generation — HEL / MOUTH. The chop.
The name is one word. The generator stacked it because a bottle label and a kraft shipper both need a short picture. Empty vermillion square because the brief forbade a mascot — color as cooked chili, not a devil. Bottles, box, stickers, ink. Cover the letters and it is still this condiment.
Quiet generation

Quiet generation — the window. What the brief asked first.
Upright serif, wood, oil, recipe card. The generator followed the kitchen adjectives literally. Honest. Too quiet if a grocer has two seconds. That is why quiet exists — to show the ask, then lose if it cannot sell at a glance.
Why this generation locked
The stack locked because the shelf is the test.
The generator put the lock on the bottle and the box in the same sheet. That is the product: three whole identities, you tap the one that already lives on the surfaces. No mouth, no devil, no second line. Hellmouth is one word. Brick stays in the glass.
The export
Same file. Every surface.
Generated onto the real stuff
The brief named the objects. The run put the lock there.
Stacked grotesque for the lock. Quiet serif was a passed lane, not a second mark. No slogan.
Your turn
Three generations. You tap one. Still no call.
